Originally from Peru and Bolivia. It belongs to the genus Capsicum and to the family Solanaceae.
Annual perennial herbaceous plant with pivoting and deep root, erect stem, green leaves, whole and lanceolate with glabrous bundle, very pronounced apex and long petiole, white, solitary and small flowers and the fruit is a hollow berry, semicartilaginosa and depressed, of variable color.
It has three consumption destinations: fresh pepper, paprika and canned and the main producing countries are China, Mexico and Turkey.
