Old plant of unknown origin. It belongs to the genus Vaccinium of the family Ericaceae and is a deciduous shrub, with a small underground stem, alternate leaves, inflorescences in clusters and a spherical fruit, blue, red or black.
Its interest has grown because of its natural origin. USA is the main producer, consumer, exporter and importer in the world, followed by Canada, Chile and Argentina and the main countries that demand this type of fruit are: Japan, England, Italy, Belgium and Holland.
